I am an artist of Jamaican heritage, currently making my home and studio practice in Los Angeles. I think my back ground and heritage influences my work in the use of materials and vivid and sometimes odd color combinations … I like to mix and match – make a gumbo of sorts… taking from my current surroundings which sometimes lead back to my distant past experiences…
My artistic process sometimes an arduous method of creative transformation — from the fermentation of an idea to the birth of the genuine work. To achieve it is my practice to try and maintain equilibrium between rational controls of deliberately executed activity and the instinctive spontaneity of intuitive freedom.
A transplant from New York City–now making my home and art practice in Los Angeles. I work in a variety of media and genres… or as I like to say, “which ever medium tells the story” – Mixed-media sculpture tell the story presently. Stories of love and loss, a desire for connections and community – my work reflects the Los Angeles landscape in that desire to be connected.
